I’ve been looking forward to writing this blog post! Our trip to the mountains was that much more fun because of the cool places we stayed in. Not only are these rentals unique, but they’re also perfectly safe to travel to during Covid. I’ll attach the links for each rental to make it easier for you to plan your trip to the mountains, but no matter where you go, you can find unique stays by using the filter on Airbnb.
Our first unique stay was conveniently located in the city of Travelers Rest, SC. We stayed for 1 night on our way to Gatlinburg, and it allowed for a nice break in our trip. The kids were especially amped for this one because they had been looking forward to staying in an RV! This wasn’t just any RV though, It was a beautifully renovated Airstream decked out with 70s memorabilia. The beautiful touches included popular candy from the 70s and a DVD player that was already playing The Brady Bunch when we walked in. The airstream sits on a private, gated yard complete with outdoor games, a fire pit, a custom-made deck, and a private outdoor shower (that I must say, was glorious!). The town of Traveler’s Rest was surprisingly beautiful and boasted many delicious restaurants and even a free bike park that we, of course, took advantage of. Book your stay here!
Our second unique stay was located on the outskirts of Gatlinburg, TN. Once we found out we could rent a beautiful safari tent within an RV park we were sold. We love RV parks. We love that they’re so kid-friendly, that they almost always have a playground and pool, that the kids can run around safely with “4mph” signs everywhere and for laundromats! This RV park was especially nice and beautifully maintained. Aside from safari tents, they also had retro RVs and treehouses available to rent too. We also really loved that we stayed about 15 minutes outside of downtown Gatlinburg. The park is beautiful, serene and quiet. It served as a great home base for all of our adventurous day-hikes in the smokies! You can book directly at their website here:
Our third unique stay was in Hot Springs, NC. On a cleared hilltop with 360-degree mountain views, we rented an open-air cabin within a beautiful farm. Each cabin boasts it’s own deck and fire pit. A large, renovated barn serves as a communal gathering space and contains a spacious, shared kitchen so that meals can be prepped, cooked an eaten in same place. Begin your day with a hike that starts on the premises or book your mineral bath at the Hot Springs Resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this city! Dave and I both agreed that this would be the perfect place to come with all your friends! Book your cabin here: https://www.paintrockfarm.com/
Our fourth and last unique stay was 15 minutes north of Asheville in Weaverville, NC. A retro RV resort on pristine grounds. Choose from one of many styles of retro RVs to rent. Each one comes with a picnic table outside. A shared (and might i add “beautiful”) bathhouse in the middle of the park, a communal fire pit, a large field, a treehouse, a retro playground, and a dreamy creek are just a few things that make this property so unique. Come for the weekend or plan your next event or wedding at this venue! Book your retro RV rental here: https://www.junebugretroresort.com/
We hope you enjoyed the pictures and descriptions as much as we enjoyed documenting them. And stay tuned for our next trip as we’ll be documenting more unique stays! 🙂
